Write or import a script
A script keeps its formatting, so a word you bolded for emphasis is still bold on the prompter.
- Press New, give the script a name, then Create.
- Type, or paste from Word or Google Docs. Bold, italic and color come with the paste; emoji and the broken lines you get from a PDF are cleaned up.
- Use the bar above the script for Bold, Italic, six text colors, four fonts and your spelling language.
- The word count and the reading time sit under the script.

A whole document at once
Got every module in one Word file? Open New ▾, then Import a document. Paste the text or Choose a file (Word .docx, .txt or .md), press Split into scripts, untick anything you don't want, and press Add. Each section becomes its own script. For a PDF, copy the text and paste it in. Importing needs a free account.
Read it
- Press Start prompter in the editor, or the play button on a script in your library. The script opens at the top.
- Press Space or the play button. A 3, 2, 1 counts you in.
- Tap the screen to pause, tap again to carry on. Drag, scroll or use the arrows on the right to move the script by hand.
- Press Esc, or Leave the prompter, when you're done.
The controls fade while you read and come back when you move the mouse or touch the screen. From left to right: back to the top, slower, the speed (1 to 20), faster, play, previous and next chapter, voice follow, mirror, full screen and Display settings.

Display settings holds the rest: text size, line spacing, side margins, speed, where the reading line sits, mirroring, full screen on play, and five reading color schemes. They're saved on each device, so the laptop and the iPad can each be set the way they're used. A script remembers its own speed.

On a mirror rig (a beam-splitter glass), press M or the mirror button to flip the text upside down. Left-to-right mirroring is in Display settings, under Mirror horizontally.
Voice follow
Turn on voice follow and the script moves as you speak. Pause for breath and it waits. Ad-lib a line and it holds its place. Want a sentence again? Press Page Up or the clicker's back button and it jumps back three lines.
- Start the prompter, then press the microphone button, V, or the period key on a number pad.
- Allow the microphone when your browser asks.
- The one-time setup downloads the voice model, about 65 MB, and keeps it on your device. After that it starts in a moment.
- The status line at the top says whether it's listening or following. While it's on, Space mutes the microphone instead of stopping.

The listening happens on your device, not on a server, so what you say never leaves it. It follows English. It works best on a computer or a recent iPad, because the model runs on the device's own processor. Everything else in Miracue runs on any device with a current browser.
The remote
Any Bluetooth number pad, keyboard or presentation clicker drives the prompter, so you can control it from where you sit. A small Bluetooth number pad is the handiest: every key below is within one hand.
| Space or Enter | Play or pause |
|---|---|
| Up and Down arrows | Faster and slower (with Shift: previous and next chapter) |
| Number pad + and − | Faster and slower |
| 1 to 9 | Jump to that chapter |
| Number pad / and * | Previous and next chapter (press / twice for the top) |
| Number pad 0, or B | Add a chapter where you are |
| Number pad period, or V | Voice follow on or off |
| Backspace | Back three lines, for a retake |
| Clicker forward / back | Play or pause / back three lines (with voice follow on, both move three lines). Press twice quickly to jump a chapter |
| Home | Back to the top |
| M | Mirror |
| Esc | Leave the prompter |
Call mode and the pin
Read your notes on a Zoom, Teams or Meet call without them covering the faces you're talking to. The pin lifts the script into a small window that stays on top of every other window, close to your camera.
- Press the phone half of the Start prompter button, the phone icon on a script in your library, or On a call… in Display settings.
- The script opens in a small floating window. Drag it up near your camera.
- The tab behind it says Pinned over your call. Press Bring it back to return the script to the tab.

The pin works in Chrome and Edge on a computer, because those browsers can keep a window on top. It needs a free account: free accounts get three pinned calls, and opening the same script again within twenty minutes doesn't use another, so a dropped call costs nothing. The paid Teleprompter plan pins every call.
The pin is a real window, so it shows if you share your whole screen. Share a single window or tab instead.
Chapters
Chapters let you jump straight to a section mid-take: the bit you fluffed, or the part the client wants again.
- In the prompter, press B (or 0 on a number pad) to add a chapter where you are.
- In the editor, open the Chapters tab, put the cursor on a line and press Add a chapter. Name each one so you can find it.
- Jump with 1 to 9, the [ and ] keys, or the chapter arrows on screen. A script can hold up to 50.

Takes and voice notes
Keep track of what worked while you're still filming, so nobody has to scrub through every take later.
- Open the Takes tab beside the script and press + for each take.
- Star the keeper, and type a note for the edit.
- Press Record a voice note to say it instead (up to three minutes), then Transcribe into the note to turn it into text. The transcription runs on your device.

The Cutaways tab beside it is a tick list of the B-roll this script needs, ticked off as each shot is captured. Takes, voice notes and cutaways come with the paid Teleprompter plan.
Projects
A project keeps each client or job together: the course, the webinar series, the quarterly update.
- New ▾, then New project.
- Move a script in with its ⋯ menu, Move to project…, or drag it.
- A project's own ⋯ menu renames it, shares it, sets its color or deletes it.

Projects come with the paid Teleprompter plan.
Change the script while it runs
The client wants a line changed. Your producer spots a typo. You think of a better ending. Fix it from another screen and the words change on the prompter, without anyone leaving it.
Share the script with a live link
- In your library, open the script's ⋯ menu and choose Share this script.
- Send the link with Copy link, QR code, Email it to yourself or your device's share sheet.
- The link stays on for seven days. Press Turn off to stop it sooner, or Turn on for 7 days to start it again. Sharing the same script again gives the same link.

They edit, on any device, with no account
The person you send it to opens the link, types their name once, and edits. What they type goes straight into your script, and your changes show on their page within a few seconds.

The change arrives on the prompter
Start the prompter after you share the link. When they change something, a note appears at the top of the glass: Changes from Sam, with Apply and Later.
- Apply puts the new words in mid-roll, and the line you're reading stays exactly where it is.
- Later keeps them until you next pause.
- With voice follow on, changes go in when you pause, so the words never shift under you mid-sentence.

From your own phone
Signed in on your phone with the same account? Open the script and edit. The prompter checks every few seconds. While it's rolling, or following your voice, it shows Script changed. It updates when you pause. Pause, and the new words are in, at the same place in the script.

A free account can be signed in on two devices at once, and the paid plan on three. If you'd rather not sign in on your phone, share the script to yourself with the QR code and edit through the live link: you get the Changes note with Apply and Later.
Share a project, get it back
To send several scripts at once, open a project's ⋯ menu and choose Share this project, or press Select in your library, pick scripts and press Share. This sends a copy, encrypted on your device so we can't read it, and the link lasts seven days.
The person you sent it to changes their copy, then presses Send it back above the script.

If you're in the prompter when it comes back, a note on the glass says Changes came back on the script, with Apply and Later. Apply merges their changes into yours; if you both changed the same lines, theirs is kept as a new script. Outside the prompter, a card lets you Replace my copy or Keep both.
Install it as an app
Give Miracue its own icon and its own full-screen window.

- Press Install app at the top of your library, and Miracue shows the steps for your device.
- iPhone or iPad: in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
- Mac: in Safari, choose File, then Add to Dock.
- Chrome or Edge on a computer: the install icon in the address bar.
- Android: the browser menu, then Add to home screen.
The Chrome extension
Miracue for Chrome puts the teleprompter in Chrome's side panel, beside whatever tab you're working in.
- Add it from the Chrome Web Store (the link is on the Miracue for Chrome page), then pin the Miracue icon to your toolbar.
- Click the icon to open the side panel.
- Paste your script and press Read. It scrolls at a speed you set, or turn on the microphone and it follows your voice, on your computer.

Reading needs no account. Sign in at miracue.app and the panel opens the scripts in your library too. The pin floats the script in its own small window over your call: it needs a free account, three floats are free, and the paid plan floats on every call.
If the signal drops
Once Miracue is open, it keeps working if the signal drops. The prompter keeps reading, and voice follow keeps listening once its model has downloaded. Edits to the script you have open are kept on your device and sent when you're back online, and live updates resume when the signal is back.

Under the hood
Where your scripts live
Used without an account, Miracue keeps your scripts in your browser's own storage, on that device. They don't go to our server. The one exception is a copy someone sent you: if you press Send it back, your edited copy is uploaded, encrypted so we can't read it.
With an account, scripts are stored on our servers so they can sync between your devices. They're encrypted at rest, with the encryption keys stored separately from the data. Account content (scripts, takes and voice notes) travels over encrypted connections, belongs to your account alone, and is used for nothing except running the service.
Share links come in two kinds
A single script shares as a live link to your own script on our server, so you and the person you send it to work on the same words. It isn't an encrypted copy we can't read: it's protected like the rest of your account, anyone with the link can edit, and it turns itself off after seven days. Shared while you're offline, a script goes as an encrypted copy instead.
A project or a set of scripts goes as a copy, encrypted on your device with a key made on your device. The key travels in the part of the link after the #, which browsers never send to any server, so what we store is ciphertext we can't read. If the link is lost, we can't recover it. The copy deletes itself seven days after the link is made.
Where the voice recognition runs
Voice follow downloads its speech model once, keeps it in your browser's storage, and runs it on your device in a background worker. It doesn't use the browser's built-in speech service, which on some browsers sends audio to the browser maker's servers. You can check: open your browser's developer tools, watch the network panel, and read with voice follow on. After the one-time download, no audio leaves the machine.
Voice notes on takes are different, on purpose: they upload to our server, because the person editing the video is usually somewhere else and needs to hear them. Reading audio never does.
Accounts
An account is your email address. You sign in with a link or a six-digit code we email you, or with Google; a password is optional, and if you add one it's stored as a one-way hash. An account can be signed in on two devices at once on Free and three on the paid plan; sign in on one more and Miracue asks which to let go. The account page lists every device and can sign any of them out.
Export everything, on the account page, builds a zip of plain text files in your browser, one per script with its chapters inside. Deleting the account destroys the key that encrypts your scripts, which makes every stored copy in our database permanently unreadable, and the delete sheet points you to the export before you go.
We don't use advertising trackers or build behavioral profiles from how people use Miracue. The detail is in the privacy policy.
If something misbehaves
Email support@miracue.app. A person reads every message, and several improvements started as one user's report. If you ever see a request leave the app that this page doesn't account for, we want to know most of all.
